BF6 Players Are Convinced: Missions Are Way Too Hard

The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, notably for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.

Gamers have begun using tailored sessions set up using the Portal feature to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how grueling these challenges have become.

Grasping BF6 Objectives

Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four categories of assignments, but while the majority merely grant outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one main guns available in the game.

A number of these restricted firearms might eventually find their way on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration on Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so awful and totally unreasonable, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is wildly inaccurate and only works at very short distances, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Extremely Difficult Mission

Another Reddit user brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to obtain the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with sniper rifles

This is challenging enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game right now, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and possibly Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.

The Workaround

Nevertheless, a method exists: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.

But when tackling the tasks in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for finishing these in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?

Upcoming Tweaks

It should not be shocking if some of these assignments are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.

Currently, the audience continues to express their views on these strenuous battlefield assignments, expecting a fairer overall gameplay in future updates.
