New England Equal Best Victory Run Since Tom Brady Era with Triumph Over Jets

Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson in action

First-year player Henderson has scored five TDs during the current campaign

The New England Patriots matched their best victory streak since the Brady period as they overcame division rivals the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL

Rookie Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the New England squad notched an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's last year with the team in the 2019 season

Signal-caller Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a TD, completing 25 passes from 34 throws

The win bolsters the New England's advantage at the summit of the division as they advanced to nine victories against two losses, with the New York at the foot after dropping to a 2-8 mark

The visitors had taken the lead at Foxborough with quarterback Justin Fields scoring a five-yard TD to conclude the Jets' first possession

But the home team answered in the second period as Henderson ran in two seven-yard TDs before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone midway through the third quarter to make it 21-7

"That was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He aims to be excellent."

Justin Fields found Metchie in the latter part of the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the victory
